Arrest History in Jefferson Parish
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office arrests people in its patrol jurisdiction and operates the parish booking center. Kenner, Gretna, Harahan, Westwego, Grand Isle, and Jean Lafitte police departments create their own incident and arrest reports. Louisiana State Police and federal agencies may also make arrests here. The agency that made the arrest remains the source for its report, even if JPSO later creates the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center booking record.
An arrest history is a trail of arrest and booking events. It is not a list of convictions. The initial jail charge can change when the District Attorney files a bill of information, seeks an indictment, refuses a charge, or dismisses it. Court records supply that later outcome.
From Arrest to JPCC Intake
Jefferson Parish Correctional Center at 100 Dolhonde Street in Gretna has 1,200 spaces, including intake and booking. It primarily holds people awaiting court action. During intake, JPSO can create a booking number, photograph, fingerprints, charge entries, bond entries, and custody history. That arrest transaction may also be reported to BCII-LCJIS for the Louisiana Computerized Criminal History system.

That facility profile anchors a current-custody search, but it does not replace the police report or later court file.
How to Look Up Jefferson Parish Arrests
A full search follows the record from custody to the agency and then to court. Use a complete legal name and date of birth when the official tool permits them. An item number, arrest date, or booking number can distinguish people with similar names.

- Ask JPSO Central Records for an arrest register, or contact the municipal police department that made the arrest.

- Use Louisiana State Police BCII-LCJIS Right to Review when examining your own statewide fingerprint record.
- Submit a focused public-record request if the online roster and ordinary counter routes do not provide the needed nonexempt record.
The JPSO inmate search accepts first name, last name, middle initial, sex, race, age, hair color, and eye color. None was marked required during inspection.
The many optional filters can narrow a common name, but a match still describes custody and booking rather than guilt.
Jefferson Parish Arrest Register or Rap Sheet
JPSO Central Records and Reports is at 1233 Westbank Expressway, Building A, Harvey, and operates weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Its posted products answer different questions. An arrest register costs $25 and documents a local arrest event. An ARMMS rap sheet also costs $25, but it is a separate record product. A parish background check or Review of Record costs $50. Mugshots cost $10. These labels should not be treated as interchangeable.

Appointments may be made for accident, incident, and arrest records, but the page says that appointment choice does not apply to background checks or fingerprinting.

What a Jefferson Parish Arrest Record Shows
The fields depend on the product. A current inmate result focuses on identity and custody. An arrest register focuses on the event. A police report can contain the narrative and item number, subject to redaction. Check each identifier before joining records from separate systems.

Four Custodians for One Arrest
A single event can create four distinct Jefferson Parish records. The arresting department owns its report. JPSO owns the JPCC booking. The District Attorney controls its charging decision, while the Jefferson Parish Clerk holds the filed court case. State Police BCII-LCJIS maintains the statewide identification-and-arrest cycle. A search fails when it asks one custodian for another office’s record.

Note: Kenner operates a separate 64-capacity jail, so a recent city misdemeanor detainee may not appear on the JPCC roster.
Recent Jefferson Parish Arrests and Booking Logs
The free JPSO roster is the quickest public route for current JPCC custody. It should not be read as a permanent booking log. A person may be released, transferred, held in Kenner’s jail, moved into state custody, or booked under data that requires more precise filters. Absence from today’s roster proves neither that no arrest occurred nor that a past case ended favorably.
If the person disappears, call JPCC first. For a sentenced state prisoner or a transfer into state custody, use Louisiana VINE and Corrections Services inmate information, or call the state locator at 225-383-4580.
The state route extends the custody trail beyond the parish jail without turning a custody result into a court disposition.
An incarcerated person may request an official JPCC letter of incarceration. The JPSO form calls for the inmate’s name, CCN, date of birth, booking date, arrest date, release date when applicable, recipient details, address, purpose, and signature. The $25 cost is deducted from the inmate’s commissary account.
Request a Missing JPSO Record
When the roster is too narrow, use the JPSO public-request portal or Central Records. State the exact product, item or report number if known, incident date and location, involved person, delivery preference, and date range. Ask for segregated nonexempt portions if some material must be withheld. Louisiana law can protect active investigative records, confidential juvenile information, victim-identifying data, and security-sensitive details.
The official request portal provides the formal fallback.
A focused request helps staff locate the correct arrest component and avoids confusing a city police report with a JPSO booking.
Route a municipal report to the department that made the arrest. Kenner Police Records is at 500 Veterans Boulevard and can be reached at 504-712-2200. Gretna Police is at 200 Fifth Street, with 504-366-4374 and 504-363-1725 published as contact numbers. Harahan Police is at 6441 Jefferson Highway and uses 504-737-9763 for nonemergency contact. Supply the report or item number, event date and time, location, exact component sought, and a delivery choice. Those facts help the city locate its own file. They do not transfer custody of a JPCC booking from JPSO to the city.
Jefferson Parish Arrests vs Convictions
An arrest proves that an agency took a person into custody or cited them under an allegation. It does not establish guilt. The court file, not the booking, shows whether prosecutors filed a charge and whether it ended in dismissal, acquittal, plea, or verdict.

Note: An arrest is not proof of guilt, and a Jefferson Parish booking charge may never become the charge filed in court.
JPSO also publishes monthly criminal-statistics reports. Those reports summarize reported activity for a period; they are not a person-level booking roster, court index, or conviction database. Use them only for broad context, never to infer the outcome of one arrest.
When the State Record Lacks an Outcome
Louisiana is a closed-record state. The public cannot run an unrestricted statewide name search through the Louisiana State Police Internet Background Check portal. Someone checking their own LACCH record uses the BCII-LCJIS fingerprint-based Right to Review process. If that record shows an arrest but lacks the final Jefferson Parish disposition, first obtain a certified or plain court document showing the outcome. Then follow the BCII-LCJIS correction channel with the originating court proof.
Expungement is a separate remedy. Under Louisiana law it removes a qualifying record from public access but ordinarily does not destroy it, and specified agencies retain confidential access. A dismissal alone does not automatically erase the arrest trail. The correct court and Clerk should be consulted for the applicable local filing process.
